Beat the Competition

You want to be on the top of your game, am I right?

Of course you do! And so do I. That’s why I allocate time not only to marketing my business, but to educating myself. It has been said that “readers are leaders”. I agree. Why? Because the more you read, the more you learn, the more you learn the more you know, and knowledge is power! Power to do and be whatever you want to do and be.

Reading doesn’t just have to be reading. It can mean listening to CD’s or other recordings, attending webinars, etc. Bottom line is, if you want real success no matter what your business is, you must devote time to learning how to become an expert. I’m certain I have a long way to go personally, but I’m on my way. How about you?

I want to share some notes with you that I took down while listening to a webinar recently. This material is derived from a webinar replay conducted by Janet Legere. Enjoy!

Eleven Tips on Beating the Competition

  1. Create a USP.
A USP is a Unique Selling Proposition! In other words, “Why should people buy from you?” What sets you apart from your competition. Only you can answer this question so you’ll have to give it some thought. Bottom line, find a way to set yourself apart from everyone else doing the same thing. It can be something small. You can do it.
  2. Add value to your offers (products).
Offer a bonus of some kind. This could be a free product, a swipe file with sales copy, autoresponder msgs, etc., a free report, inclusion in your ad co-op, an e-book, etc.
    1. Buy/Join today and get exclusive private access to….
  3. Add value to your offers (services).
How can you help them? A free consultation on getting started, or help setting up system or software.
  4. Develop relationships with your prospects.
Send out a weekly newsletter, post on your blog regularly, ask for feedback, ask for comments, interact on social media, etc.
  5. Create and Market your brand.
If you are a network marketer, your brand is you! It doesn’t matter what company you are affiliated with; nor does it matter what product sell. In the end, it’s all about how well you market yourself. People join people, not companies!
  6. Establish yourself as an Expert.
We tend to listen to those who give the impression that they know something. It’s OK to brag if you are having success, even if it’s small. The more active you are the more appearance you give of authority. If you’re just getting started, you already know 95% more than someone who has yet to begin.
  7. Sell your own front end products.
If you’ve been around for awhile, why not write an E-Book or E-Course, etc. I’m working on mine right now. You know more than you think.
  8. Borrow credibility from the Big Dogs.
Joint Venture with well known experts in your field. You can interview experts and and record it, then distribute the replay on your blog or website. Put together a few questions you’d like to know, and ask.
  9. Offer customer rebates.
For certain products with 50% commission or more, you may be able to offer a small rebate as an incentive to buy. Be sure the product owner is OK with this.
  10. Offer superior customer service.
This is probably more important than anything else! Be there for your customers or downline. Answer questions immediately. Be professional and honest. Try to be available 24/7.
  11. Make use of ALL advertising.
Don’t leave any advertising stone unturned! Use both free and paid ad mediums, blogs, articles, forums, social media sites, EVERYWHERE! Full market penetration.

I hope you find these tips useful. I’d love to hear what you think. Please leave a comment
